Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 9, 2025
At Thyme in the Country Cottages, we value your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect and why — in simple terms. We believe in transparency, calmness, and never selling your information (just veggies, maybe goats someday ).

Who we are

Our website address is: https://thymeinthecountrycottages.com

Comments

If visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string (called a hash) may be sent to Gravatar to check if you’re using it. After your comment is approved, your profile picture may appear publicly next to your comment.

Media

If you upload images (not currently enabled, but just in case), please avoid embedding location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can potentially download and extract that info from images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name and email in cookies. These are for your convenience. They last one year.

If you visit our login page (again, not publicly used yet), we’ll set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data.

When you log in (site admins only), we’ll set up cookies to manage login and screen options.

If you edit or publish a post, a cookie with the post ID is stored temporarily — it contains no personal data.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on this site may include embedded content (like videos, images, or Instagram posts). These behave just like if you visited that site directly. They may collect data, use cookies, or track your interaction — especially if you’re logged into those platforms.

Who we share your data with

We don’t share your data with anyone. If you request a password reset (admin use only), your IP address will be included in the email for security.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, it’s stored indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments.

If we ever allow account registration, we’ll retain profile data too — and you’ll be able to edit or delete it at any time.

What rights you have over your data

If you’ve left comments or sent a message through our contact form, you can request a copy of your personal data. You can also ask us to delete it. This doesn’t include data we’re required to keep for legal or security purposes.

✈️ Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through automated spam detection services like Akismet.
